Watch your name transform into a work of art in this calligraphy demonstration.
Collaborative Art Project
December 27–January 7 | FREE with admission | During Museum hours
Get inspired by our newest themed installation: Inside/Outside and join a collective art installation! Add your own personal touch to the installation by creating an eight-pointed star with cutout designs to hang alongside the others.
Please read the workshop descriptions and age requirements below before registering.
NOTE: Workshops will run with a minimum of eight (8) participants.
Workshop cost includes Museum admission, tour, and materials.

Do you know how paper is made? Join Aga Khan Museum educator Baneen H. Zehra for a fascinating discussion on the history and techniques of papermaking, followed by the opportunity to make your own paper! Experience the amazing transformation of raw material to finished project as you gain an appreciation for the versatility and artistry involved in making paper by hand.

Wearable Art: Tote Bag Design Workshop
Duration: 2.5 hours
Ages: 12+

Join Aga Khan Museum educator and visual artist Madalina Raduta for a tour of the Museum Collections Gallery and learn all about geometric patterns in Islamic Art. Unleash your inner artist and turn an ordinary tote bag into a unique, wearable masterpiece with patterns and decorations inspired by the Museum's Collections.

Clay Tile Making Workshop
Duration: 2 hours
Ages: 6+
Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver
Create a unique tile out of clay in this interactive workshop. The program will begin with a short walk through the Museum Collections Gallery to gather inspiration from ceramic artworks. Following the walk-through, you will learn how to bring your creativity to life by designing and decorating your own tile.

Pigment Making and Bookmark Decoration
Duration: two hours
Ages: 6+

Discover the art and science of colour-making. Engage in pigment grinding and swatch painting, as you learn how diverse pigments interact with thickening and bonding agents, transforming into vibrant colours. After you have explored the world of pigment-making, you will have the opportunity to paint a keepsake bookmark with freshly crafted paint.
